Details: A fantastic and wonderfully designed antique art deco Royal interest sterling silver engine turned cigarette case belonging to King George II of Greece engraved with the King's Royal intaglio depicting a crown over 'G. II' to the corner. Gilded to the interior and hallmarked Birmingham 1932. Forced to abdicate following the Greco-Turkish and with Greece declaring as a republic in 1924 King George II was forced into exile until monarchy was restored in 1935. This particular cigarette case is included with a handwritten letter from George II writing from Rome dated 'april 11th 1933' during his period of exile, in relation to his freemasonry lodge and the health of his friend signed off 'Faithfully & gratefully George. II'. A truly unique collection that would make a superb addition to any collection with lovely provenance.
