Description
Details: A fantastic and wonderfully designed antique early-Georgian set of four sterling silver escutcheon form floral pattern decanter labels to include: Mead, Brandy, Madeira and Port. The labels are hallmarked by important silversmith Sandylands Drinkwater known to be one of the earliest produces of decanter labels beginning in the mid-1720s. These particular labels bear the Drinkwater makers mark dating them to around 1745. The Port label bears a double 'RP' makers punch for the silversmith Richard Pargeter working at the same time as Drinkwater. The Brandy label appears to have been adjusted at a later date, likely the original liquid being advertised has been later changed to brandy. This is a wonderful item that would make a perfect gift or addition to any collection. We are more than happy to provide XRF reports for items upon request.
