Fantastic pair of antique day and night shell cameo dangling pendant earrings dating from the mid Victorian period, circa 1860. The shell cameo's are in good order with great detailing please see the pictures. They are set in pinchbeck frames. Pinchbeck is a form of brass, an alloy of copper and zinc mixed together to resemble gold. Invented in the early 18th century by Christopher Pinchbeck a London clock and watch maker. As pinchebeck resembled gold so well, often the wealthy would copy their priceless precious jewellery enabling them to look fabulous away from home without the risk of theft or highwaymen. A wonderful pair of antique dangling earrings.
