Dating from a time when it was common to mourn lost loved ones by placing their hair within a brooch or pin, this is a charming if sad, antique mourning brooch dating circa 1820 during the Georgian period. Made from 15ct yellow gold, tested as there are no marks, with black enamel to the front and blonde braided hair behind the lens. Very minor nibbles to the edge of the enamel, please see the pictures. Good secure clasp and pin. A wonderful addition to any mourning collection.
Size 1.8 x 1.0 cm or 0.7 x 0.4 inches.
Weight 2.5 grams or 1.6 penny weight.

NB. All items stated as sterling silver, gold, platinum will be tested and/or hallmarked, quality checked and surveyed to ensure quality and consistency. Equally all stones stated (for example 'diamond solitaire ring') will have been tested. Please refer to all the photos and double check dimensions - items are often photographed close up to allow the customer to further view condition & gauge detail. With the majority of items ranging from 100 up to 400 years old please recognise total brand new factory built perfection often isn't compatible with genuine antique items although we do try and ensure our items do come as close as possible!
